Employee Expectations
Employees are expected to arrive to work on time and prepared to work. Prepared as defined by but not limited to: properly dressed and groomed, properly equipped, physically and mentally alert to conduct work safely, properly, and efficiently.
Employees are expected show respect for others and their property. "Others" includes but is not limited to co-workers, suppliers, customers, and the neighbors of our customers. Examples of "showing respect" are: asking before using others' equipment or property and not entering customer's home unless permission is granted first.
Employees are expected to work overtime hours especially during the late summer early fall months.
Employees are expected to report theft of customer, co-worker, or company property to the field manager.
Employees are expected to care for company equipment.
Employees are expected to focus on work during work hours.
Employees are expected to find out from their supervising manager to the location and tasks for the next day in advance.
Employees are expected to ask for time off at least two weeks in advance.
Employees are expected to complete paperwork properly and within time requirements. This includes but is not limited to timesheets, tax paperwork, and company surveys.

How often do I get paid?

Do you offer medical insurance?
A.
Yes. After 6 months of full-time employment, you are eligible for medical benefits. Shearer Painting will cover 50% of the premium, which is currently about $71 per month; your cost per month is about $71. After one year of full time employment, Shearer Painting will pay 70% of the premium. See your supervisor for plan specifics.

Do you offer paid vacation?
A.
Yes. Emloyees who work 400 hours per quarter earn one day of vacation. Employees who work 1600 hours per year earn one week. See next page for specifics.

Do you offer draws against time already worked?
A.
Generally, no. However, under rare circumstances, exceptions may be made. See your supervisor to request a draw.

How do I fill out my time card and what are the procedures for getting paid?
A.
A sample time card is showning on the next page. Follow that sample. If you have any other questions ask your supervisor.

When are breaks and lunch?
A.
You are entitled to one break at 10:10am for 15 minutes and another break at 3:00pm for 15 minutes, paid. Lunch is from 12:00pm until 12:30pm, and is not paid.

What hours will be requested to work?
A.
Employment with Shearer Painting is voluntary. However, we expect employees to work any hour required to meet contractual obligations to our customers. This may include weekends, evenings, and shifts lasting longer than eight (8) hours.

What equipments am I required to purchase?
A.
Painters are required to provide painter paints/coveralls, and a grip containg brushes, 5-in-1 tools, calking gun, putty knives, scraper, and other small hand tools. Helpers are only required to have painter paints/coveralls. All other equipments provided by Shearer Painting.
Q.
If I'm terminated or resign, when can I expect my final paycheck?
A.
After filling out your time card and all equipments are checked in, you will be paid within three (3) business days.
Q.
Does Shearer Painting pay overtime?
A.
Overtime is paid at a rate of 1 1/2 times the regular rate of pay after working 40 hours per week. The work week begins at 12:01am each Monday. No overtime will be paid unless approved by your supervisor.

Vacation Policy
1.
Program starts April 1, 2000.
2.
Earn one day vacation when you work 400 hours or more during the quarter.
3.
Earn one week (five paid days) vacation when you work 1600 hours during the year.
4.
Vacation quarters begin April 1; July 1; October 1; January 1.
5.
Earned vacation time must be used within one year after it is earned.
6.
Employees are eligible to use vacation time after one year of employment.
7.
If an employee is terminated or resigns, any earned vacation is paid at a rate of eight (8) hours per days earned, at the employee's current wage.
