There are a variety of free blog services for business or personal use. Each blog has its advantages, and each one fits a different set of needs.
Here are three services we have used. In the end, we felt WordPress best fit our needs. This post itself was written using wordpress.
WordPress caters to a wide range of skill levels and needs. It provides for the average user with no experience in web design up to users who want to full customization.
- Interface: The interface is not as intuitive as other services, though this is changing with updates. The capability and flexibility it provides make up for the lack of intuitiveness.
- Flexibility and Customization: WordPress allows users to create everything from a personal blog to a complex content management system. There are user created themes and layouts available, or you can create your own to fit your specific needs. There are also user created plug-ins available to adjust the appearance and functionality of your blog. The more popular of these include a spam blocker and a censoring tool, which frees up time otherwise, spent moderating comments on your posts.
- Mobility: WordPress allows you to update your blog on a variety of mobile devices.
- Business: The business features are where wordpress stands out. It has excellent features for page view tracking and search engine optimization. It tracks views to your blog, and can break them down by individual posts. WordPress will also constantly upload information to Google
