Seattle Waterfront Paint Restoration

June 28, 2013

In January 2007  Shearer was contracted to restore a Seattle waterfront residence which was improperly painted 18 months before. The residence was not properly washed to remove mildew and moss. Although modern exterior paint coatings have a small amount of mildewcide in their formulations; mildew and mold will continue to grow beneath a topcoat of paint. Mildew was growing under almost 30% of the siding on this 6500 square foot residence.

Many of the paint failures were not properly reduced to a sound substrate during the previous paint project and ultimately in short time caused the new paint to fail.

The remedy was to remove all mildew failed paint by reducing to bare wood.
