“The primary focus of an owner of a painting company should be the paint work; understanding and training proper surface prep and paint installation methods; this takes years to achieve a master level. I see a disturbing trend where painting companies are focusing on marketing, franchise brokers are selling painting contracts with no back ground in the trade, and modern equipment & all-in-one products are replacing skilled, trained artisans. The quality of work in the industry is worse than when I was learning the trade. There are good paint companies in the city; they are greatly outnumbered by pretenders.” John Shearer
