robin daly thanks. There is usually no short-cut to doing the work properly, and removing the previous coating was time consuming. Winter is not the perfect time to paint outside but sometimes the circumstances compel an owner to do so..refinance, loan approvals, and insurance requirements: that was the case with this owner.

Interesting thing about primer - this is a coating that is specificaly designed to be painted over, and if left exposed for too long can become too "tight" and cause problems with the paint layer in the future. Not many people (or painting contractors for that matter) are aware of this. So it was quite appropriate to remove the old primer as part of the prep. Nicely done, Shearer Painting!

Choosing the right paint can mean the success or failure of a project. We find that it is crucial to think about the exposure to the elements, and the expectations of how long the paint job is to last, crucial in choosing the proper paint.

@HP87 I think you would be better off using your own photos vs the stock photos on your site, Also the link to Sherwin Williams on your homepage does not work.

Thanks for the comment and advice Mark. The roller set-up gets more material (finish compound) on faster, but the old method of laying the finish compound with a broad knife is still the only "tried & true" practice. We are always looking to learn what has been successful for other tradesmen.
