Last September this Seattle Laurelhurst home owner called for a painting estimate. The Home is a 1939 built single family brick residence with wood trim. Shearer was hired to repair and complete the painting started by another painting contractor. Together with the owner the decision was made to wait until the following spring to complete the work. The scope included an upgrade of one exterior door; during the winter the new custom door was delivered to Shearer Painting to be shop finished. The owner asked that the new door be finished with the highest quality paint for durability. The door was primed and painted with Fine Paints of Europe ECO and delivered for installation.
When Shearer painters began exterior paint prep work on the home the workmen discovered rotten wood had been inadequately filled with interior patching compound on four wood fascia board joints. Shearer uses the system 3 wood epoxy filler.
The video below is an example of this wood repair system used on windows on a residence near Children s Hospital in LaurelHurst.
Shearer painting has done work for us on several occasions. Last year they painted our entire exterior – an enormous job! This year, I had them do 3 days of touch-up and some interior repainting on rooms that had been painted over 10 years ago. They are a pleasure to work with. Not only do they do great work, they are very timely and prompt and a pleasure to have around the house. If you do not know a paint color – they go out of their way to find it for you. We have one small wall that had been a custom mix from 13 years ago and the painter was able to replicate it without any details on the prior colors. I couldn’t be happier with their work and will absolutely use them every time we need painting.
This video shows typical ground protection and masking practices for exterior painting.
Make sure area to be masked is clean of dirt and debris.
Use a masker (or tape) to make a clean line, going over every inch of tape put down. Use your hand to make sure there are no bleed-through spots.
Make sure areas are masked with plastic, paper, drops, etc.
Be sure that those areas are secured, so that pressure from the spray gun is not blowing the masking on the painted surface.
When masking steep areas, aside from fall protection gear, your protection should be secured with tape, tacks, and/or staples for further traction. Make sure that all plants masked are unmasked at the end of painting that particular area or at the end of the day. Learn More about masking for house painting.

This review posted on Angie’s List for Shearer Painting: Dan Royalty, Queen Anne Residence We hired Shearer Painting to paint the exterior of our traditional home on Queen Anne. Shearer Painting did a magnificent job cleaning, prepping, repairing and rebuilding failing trim, and repainting the exterior of our 1913 home — plus priming and painting the new fence around our yard. The house is large with intricate nooks, crannies, peaks and gables. There are 3 stories and much of the work had to be [...]

I had my house in Denny Blaine painted by Shearer Painting the summer of 2012. I hired Shearer Painting to do the work, as they had painted many homes in the neighborhood, and John gave informed answers to all of our questions. I was extremely happy with the work they did, as well as recommendations [...]
